Last minute preparations
Goblin and Narcissa have been taken to their new sumer homes...Goblin apparently doesn't need any settling down time. Narcissa? Well, that is whole other story. Jonesy gets to go live at her summer home tonight. I think she realizes this and isn't quite happy about it. I am busy sorting through my stuff...What to bring? What not to bring? Can it all fit in my backpack? Do I really need it? You know, that kind of stuff. Packing for two months is a lot different than packing for a weekend. And packing to live in the jungles of Costa Rica is totally different than packing for a trip to Chicago...or anywhere else for that matter. On another note, I found out from the airlines that my backpack is too large so I will have to carry my frame as a carry on and put the actual backpack in a duffel bag. Good thing I called and asked....although, the woman that I talked to didn't know what an external frame backpack was....so, hopefully she gave me the right answer. It is really starting to sink in that I am going to be living in the jungle for two months, getting to work with animals and meeting new people from all over the world. I'm sitting here with my Frommer's guide to Costa Rica, trying to decide what I am going to do during my first day in Alajuela since I can't catch my shuttle to Rainsong until the following morning after my arrival. There are volcanoes nearby so I think I am going to try and figure out how to get to one. I've never seen a volcano before. It is on my list of things to do before I die. There are also butterfly farms, cathedrals, waterfall gardens, etc. I will only be in Alajuela for less than 24 hours so I probably won't get to everything.....duh. There is so much to see here! I will have weekends to explore this beautiful country. I will post pictures of everywhere that I go so you can see them. "Pura Vida" here I come!
